Overview

Ideal for educational modelling, this pack contains balsa wood pieces up to 610mm long and between 2mm and 10mm thick.

Balsa wood is favoured in education for its lightweight yet strong properties, perfectly suited for model-making projects. This pack offers a versatile range of piece sizes, essential for diverse design needs, aiding the development of an understanding of structural integrity and material characteristics in children.

In primary education, it enriches the curriculum by introducing students to basic construction techniques and the importance of selecting appropriate materials. The lightweight nature of balsa wood makes it easy to handle, fostering initial explorations into design and technology.
At Key Stage 2, this pack allows for the construction of more complex structures. It supports projects that enhance students’ practical application of theoretical knowledge, teaching how different materials contribute to building stronger, more stable constructs and supporting intricate designs in advanced educational stages.
