Magnetic Materials Testing Kit Set of 20

This set pairs magnetic and non-magnetic objects, perfect for exploring magnetism.

Overview

This kit includes two magnetic wands and various objects in labelled pots for engaging magnetism experiments.

Understanding magnetic and non-magnetic materials is crucial in science education, and hands-on learning provides an effective approach. The magnetic materials testing kit facilitates this by offering a selection of materials for direct exploration. This enhances the learning experience by allowing children to see firsthand the effects of magnetism, including attraction and repulsion.

This kit supports Year 3 and Year 5 science objectives by focusing on forces, magnets, and the properties of materials. In Year 3, it introduces magnetism through physical interaction, leading to Year 5 where the curriculum’s focus broadens to include material properties and their reactions to magnets.
Please note: The kit contains magnets or magnetic components. Immediate medical attention is necessary if magnets are swallowed or inhaled, to prevent serious or fatal injury.

Supports the National Curriculum

Science, Year 3, Forces & Magnets

Compare and group together a variety of everyday materials on the basis of whether they are attracted to a magnet, and identify some magnetic materials.

Science, Year 3, Forces & Magnets

Observe how magnets attract or repel each other and attract some materials and not others.

Science, Year 5, Properties & Changes of Materials

Compare and group together everyday materials on the basis of their properties, including their hardness, solubility, transparency, conductivity (electrical and thermal), and response to magnets.
