Activity cards that test Year 6 children’s critical thinking skills.

Quick fire reasoning questions to develop children’s mathematical knowledge and depth of understanding.

These activity cards enhance learning with quick-fire reasoning questions. Each card has a question on one side and the answer on the back for easy self-assessment and peer review. Made from laminated card, they are durable for frequent classroom use. Cards are differentiated by year group for targeted learning.

The cards support the UK curriculum by focusing on key areas such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, crucial for the Year 6 mathematics curriculum. They also include algebraic questions that encourage using simple formulae, enhancing mathematical reasoning.
Beyond mathematics, these cards support spoken language skills as outlined in the Key Stage 2 English curriculum. By articulating and justifying answers, arguments, and opinions, children can improve their communication skills. This makes the cards a versatile resource for cross-curricular learning, promoting both mathematical proficiency and effective communication.
The questions encourage and develop mathematical oracy, allowing children to express their thoughts and ideas fluently through speech, and articulate their mathematical thinking and reasoning. Through discussion, pupils develop deeper understanding of the maths they are learning. The cards also give teachers the chance to assess what pupils know and understand. Each laminated set is colour-coded by year group, containing 84 cards plus an introduction card, all stored in a handy tin. Question on one side, answer on the reverse.
