Polydron Platonic Solids Class Set 250pcs

Explore the foundations of solid geometry with this comprehensive set.

Overview

Designed to facilitate hands-on learning, this set allows children to construct and explore five key geometric shapes.

This class set invites children aged 5 to 11 years to delve into the world of geometry by constructing Platonic solids. It includes 160 equilateral triangles, 60 pentagons, and 30 squares made from durable plastic, perfect for hands-on learning. Through creating shapes and exploring their properties, children develop spatial awareness and analytical skills.

Aligned with the UK Mathematics curriculum for Year 3 to Year 6, the set provides a tactile method to learn geometry’s complexities. From recognising basic shapes to classifying geometric forms and calculating unknown angles, it supports sequential learning and skill development in mathematics.
Each piece’s dimensions (H3 x W2.4 x L2.5cm) are suited for young learners, ensuring ease of assembly. This set not only engages children in active geometry learning but also promotes curiosity and exploration in mathematics.

Supports the National Curriculum

Mathematics, Year 6, Geometry – Properties of Shapes

Recognise, describe and build simple 3-D shapes, including making nets.

Mathematics, Year 3, Geometry – Properties of Shapes

Draw 2-D shapes and make 3-D shapes using modelling materials and recognise 3-D shapes in different orientations and describe them.

Mathematics, Year 6, Geometry – Properties of Shapes

Compare and classify geometric shapes based on their properties and sizes and find unknown angles in any triangles, quadrilaterals, and regular polygons.
