TTS Rugged Robot Construction Site Mat

A dynamic educational tool designed to integrate programming with physical interaction using the rugged robot.

Overview

Challenge children to navigate a construction site scenario, enhancing both programming skills and problem-solving abilities.

This mat is strategically designed to foster engagement in computing by combining programming with physical tasks. It serves as a vibrant, interactive backdrop where children apply logic and problem-solving skills controlling the TTS Rugged Robot through construction-themed challenges. This hands-on approach to robotics encourages active learning and reinforces essential programming concepts.

The mat aligns with the curriculum from Key Stage 1 through Key Stage 2, improving skills in creating, writing, and debugging programs as well as controlling simulated systems. It also aids in the development of geographical skills by allowing children to use directional language and simple compass directions in practical scenarios.
Constructed for durability, the mat withstands regular classroom use, serving as a robust educational tool. By marrying theoretical concepts with physical tasks, it effectively translates abstract computational ideas into applied skills, essential for STEM education.

Supports the National Curriculum

Computing, Key Stage 1

Create and debug simple programs.

Computing, Key Stage 2

Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems and solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts.

Geography, Key Stage 1, Geographical Skills & Fieldwork

Use simple compass directions and locational and directional language, to describe the location of features and routes on a map.
